So far, 2018 has proved to be a great year for the hospitality industry, with wonderful new hotels opening all around the world. Whether you prefer a tropical island resort, a picturesque villa in the countryside or a designer hotel, we’ve put together a list of special places opened in 2018 or soon to be opened, where you can have an experience to remember.
Blackadore Caye, Belize
Leonardo di Caprio’s new eco-resort aims to be a game changer for the hotel industry. Set to open in 2018, this boutique is located on one of the world’s most exclusive island retreats, located in the beautiful Belize, behind the world’s second largest barrier reef.
Leonardo’s vision was clear – to create the future home of the greenest luxury development ever built. The place is completely powered by renewable energy, with water sourced from collected rain, native trees will be replanted and half of the island will be a protected wildlife reserve.
The world-class luxury hotel resort will be focused on health, wellness and sustainability and it will feature artwork inspired by the Mayan civilization.
EDITION Barcelona, Barcelona
World’s most famous hotel designer, Ian Schrager and Marriott international partnered up to create EDITION Hotels. After London, New York or Miami Beach, it is now time for Barcelona to shine. When completed, this Barcelona hotel will surely be an eye-catcher – it will feature 100 guest rooms, a signature restaurant, nightclubs and lounges, cocktail bars, a rooftop bar and an outdoor pool.
The Barcelona EDITION is located in the heart of city, beside the Barcelona Cathedral, just steps away from the main city beaches, las Ramblas, Gaudi buildings and main luxury shops.
Gevora Hotel, Dubai
The Gevora Hotel is set to be the tallest hotel in the world. However, the title for the highest hotel in the world will remain in Ritz Carlton Hong Kong’s possession, since it occupies the top floors of the 484m-high International Commerce Center.
The Emirati hotel will feature 528 rooms spread over 75 floors, four restaurants, a health club and a swimming pool with bar.
University Arms, Cambridge
Cambridge’s original city hotel will open this summer, after an £80m two-year redevelopment. The hotel promises to match the place’s heart and style in its designs. The interiors carry the signature of Martin Brudnizki and the architecture is done by John Simpson, which has worked on Buckingham and Kensington Palaces. Taking all these into consideration, the place is sure to capture and reflect the essence of the English character and the academic spirit of Cambridge.
The hotel will feature 192 rooms and suites, a library and a bar called Parker’s Tavern.
Baglioni Resort Maldives
2018’s biggest luxury hotel opening in the Maldives is set to take place on the Maagau island.
All the suites are ocean-facing and there are also some over-water villas available. Of course, you can choose from a variety of water sports and activities, such as kayaking, sailing or diving. Alternatively, you can spend time in the yoga pavilion, burn some calories at the beach gym or serve fresh sushi cooked by Japanese chefs.
