Mercedes has officially unveiled its Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept. The new model is fully electric, with four motors that can produce up to 750 horsepower and an estimated range of over 322 km and extremely fast charging capabilities.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept unveiled at the Beijing auto show previews a high-end SUV that could compete against models such as Bentley’s more traditionally SUV-styled Bentayga and the upcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

“The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a totally new archetype of a kind never seen before,” says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Daimler AG.

“Our concept combines the DNA of an SUV with that of a saloon to produce an ultra-modern SUV of three-box design,” says Wagener. “With sensuality and pure sophistication, we have created a timeless vehicle that underscores the position of Mercedes-Maybach as the ultimate luxury brand.”

Mercedes hopes the SUV-sedan look, which it claims merges influences from the Western and Far Eastern hemispheres, will appeal particularly in China, since the two bodystyles are the most popular in the market.

On the inside, the vehicle features high-end materials such as ebony, a wood often found in Chinese furniture design. These contrast with the the white nappa leather seats and rose-gold diamond stitching. The concept is also equipped with a retractable wooden tray containing a fine China teapot and cups.

Its connectivity features are designed to anticipate the wishes of its occupants rather than offer long menus and lists. It can adjust the route to coincide with the appointment calendar. The infotainment play mood music playing music to match the current mood and adjusting the route to coincide with the appointment calendar.
